What is UNSHACKLED all about?

My intention for you is to experience true AWE and REVERENCE for your female nervous system and female physiology. You are truly a masterpiece of creation with every single cell and system in your body working together constantly to keep you alive and give you somatic breadcrumbs as to how to live FROM your center. I want you to deeply know, understand, and accept yourself. I am here to guide you to meet the true version of yourself that exists when you feel safe and secure, and to show you the joy of being able to prioritize your own self-expression. I want you to feel confident being seen by others because you know they are seeing the true version of you. And in these 8 weeks, I can help you do this.

- Map your shame, discover how different types of shame exist in the body, and learn how shame really affects you.

- Build somatic and situational awareness of shame triggers so you can predict how and when shame will arise.  

- Unravel the impact that ‘expert culture’ has had on disconnecting you from your body so you can rebuild a healthy mind + body + emotional connection. 

- Deep dive into somatic experiences that center around the pelvic bowl to unwind patterns of numbness + tension in the body 

- Explore vulnerability, practice the language & sensations of being safely vulnerable, and learn how to feel safe regardless of the who, what, or where

- Tune into the experience of feeling safe in your nervous system & learn to use this as a guide for building your authentic identity.

- Join a vibrant community of de-shamers who are dedicated to decoupling from shame and build an authentic, real connection.

Women Feel & Experience Shame Uniquely 

  • Women have a more highly attuned SOCIAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, because women had to bond with their baby AND ensure they had protection and support during pregnancy and during postpartum.

    Having this more attuned social nervous system allowed them to have a more concrete understanding of their social standing within their tribe, empowering them to adjust their behaviour so they could access the support they need. This is the most primitive form of “people pleasing!”

    This is why women are more impacted relationally and the “village” we’re supposed to have is CRITICAL to our regulation and wellbeing as women.

    This is also why chronic shame can impact women so intensely, as shame is what we evolved to feel when we are engaging in behaviour that is putting the tribe at risk, moving us towards being abandoned/rejected by our tribe. For women, this intersects with your more highly attuned social nervous system and can imprint deeper into your body - often centering in your pelvic bowl as shame = freeze, and the freeze response is engaged upon by the PNS, which goes lower and deeper into your body throughout the pelvic bowl and diaphragm.

Meet Dana, Female Nervous System & Somatic Healing Practitioner

Hi! I’m Dana Doswell, and I am living proof that you can be a Resourced Woman in the modern day world.

Dana Doswell is a Nervous System Mentor & Educator that helps women with LLCD (low level chronic dysregulation) shift out of their survival state and embrace their primal & intuitive selves by supporting them through a healing journey of descending back into their body and re-sensitizing themselves to what safe presence feels like. She brings together the study of evolution, somatics, psychology and an unquenchable desire to articulate how true nervous system health merges fields of study that have otherwise been seen as separate. Dana holds certifications in IFS & Somatic Parts work, Applied Polyvagal Theory through Movement, Somatic Attachment Trauma Healing and is currently undergoing in -depth training on the female nervous system and developing a cyclical regulation framework for the female body.
